| thai festival |

Last night was one of the biggest festivals in thailand, we went down to the river where they had these amazing floats and fireworks. At home i wouldnt have been able to see a thing due to the crowds of people, but because they were all thai i got quite a good view.
The thai people put these flower arrangements with candles on the river and made wishes, there were hundreds of them.
later we went to this 'bar' just outside a shell garage (to use the loo you paid 5 baht at the petrol station) the bar was an old split screen vw campervan. There were ladieboys drinking there, my favourite was a really fat one in a polkadot dress. One of the guys we were with bought fried crickets and caterpillers, he said if you pulled the legs off the crickets they tasted ok, hmmph. i managed to eat half a caterpiller, check me, tasted like bbq crisps. The guy offered a young thai boy some who was trying to sell us roses, he wouldnt go near them!
on the way home we met some thai boys and they gave kate and i flowers with the candles. when we got back to the guest house we put them in the pond and made wishes.

about time! im in a new country (thailand) , it feels good to be somewhere different. bangkok is dirty and smelly, its so polluted, but im having a great time. Did a load of temples today, couldnt stop taking photographs, pretty amazing. There is a festival in the city tomorrow, something to do with the king who they all seem to love. then heading to the islands to catch up on the tanning!!!
going out tonight with some guys from the hostel, they want to go and see the ping pong shows later, should be an interesting night!!
you guys at home, what is going on for xmas and new year, i hope your arranging something decent this year!

a guy in my room filled my entire bed with onions last night as a practical joke. i got into bed and discovered this, so i threw them all at him, there must have been about 50! it resulted in a room fight with everyone joining in, throwing them at each other, very smelly. then just before we all went to bed we stuck the fans on, and the skins flew round the room all night!
the night before i found half the garden furniture on my bed and the disgusting loo seat from our bathroom, charming behaviour dont you think! |

byron bay was fantastic, could have stayed there for ages. we stayed in the arts factory where its kind of like a hippy commune ( i think i am repeating myself yar?). You can stay in a teepee or a double decker bus and there is a cinema with sofas and sheep skin lounge chairs. We went to some cool bars there, where they have live music every night, then usually finish of at cheeky monkies much to kates sisters delight. i think she enjoyed the dancing on the tables part.
we then, along with mandy (kates sister) headed of to surfers paradise, not really my idea of paradise but it was fun. reminded me of the costa del sol or summick....
then to brisbane where we stayed in a rather nice new hostel, although the staff were smug bastards and the bunk beds where the squeekiest in the word, i swear you only had to cough and you would wake up the entire room, needless to say i had to be intoxicated to get a nights sleep!
kates sis only stayed the day here so we went of to the lone pine sanctuary where you can hug a koala and attempt to hug kangeroos.

I'm in byron bay now, its such a great place. we are staying in the arts factory which is kind of like a hippy commune. met loads of hippys, the older ones are particually funny. i had a lengthy conversation with one guy about mashed potoato...
will finish this later, just seen the bus.... |

spent a few days in melbourne, a little too cold for my liking.
arrived in sydney, a little too cold for my liking.
back in the pink house, ooh the fun, so many people i know here still. did some remeniscing (how you spell that?!)with people.
Couldnt stay in room 7 :(
Stayed in room 14 instead, the same but backwards.
i keep trying to get into room 7 but then remember, i dont live there any more.
went to the empire and kings cross hotel last night, managed to spend nothing due to free drinks. bonus.
it was indie night at 'the cross' which made a change. jumped around to the pixies and supergaz.
kates sister is here, looking very much like kate, but with brown hair. |

the women at work are so funny.
one women asked me where i live, i said, 'just outside of london' she told me about her cousin who is a black cab driver there, then she said to me, 'have you ever been to england?' er yeah, im english.....
another women asked me where i was from i told her and she said, oh, there is a big cathedral there yes? i said er... st pauls maybe? she said, 'no, the vatican' er, the vatican is in rome. she said 'oh but rome is in england' er, nooooo rome is in italy...
only eight days to go! gonna be the slowest eight days of my life, but hey it will all be worth it soon. |

ok guys, i am going slightly maaaad in mildura, i am sick to death of the job. of the cold, and of some of the people i am currently living with.
at the mo in our living room, there are four germans speaking v loudly in er german.
everyone else is trying to watch the tv, they speak english perfectly, but chose never to, which is nice, friendly and all that.
there is an indian girl, that just goes round wearing other peoples clothes without asking, v annoying, but most annoying of all is this dutch guy who is 21 but acts like a 10 year old. he comes into my room and watches me sleep, ick.
he bangs everything, plates, cups, walls, tables, chairs, everything, he steals phone numbers from kates phone and stalks our friends.
well anyway, apart from all that, its not too bad!
if anyone wants to burn me cds and send me them? i would be v greatful, they are the only thing that gets me through work.... |
